In development and marketing speak, something is clopen if its source code or pipeline is open but it requires a fee to use (non-gratis = closed).

Another way to define it is the architecture and licensure of an open toolset.

+ The word is a portmanteau of closed and open, and whose definition is simultaneously representative of both. As with topological spaces, a closed set with an open complement is called clopen.

+ UUe uses a clopen architecture to make it easy for it to be plugged into and propagate a plug culture.
