UUe's compute layer can be thought of as the 'tissue' of the system. It is the aggregate of cells (taken in single instances) spread over BOT. The layer is scaled by the number of systoles in use on the network.
Note (+): The objective of Stewart is to make the compute layer persistent enough for quotient normalization. This is essentially what is being done by jukers under the guises of .ellis and earl.
